On 19 April 2026, Minister for National Development and Chairman of the Chinese Community Liaison Group, Mr Chee Hong Tat, together with Minister of State for Home Affairs and for Social and Family Development, Mr Goh Pei Ming, visited the Taoist Federation (Singapore) and Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple.
They were received by President Mr Tan Thiam Lye BBM(L), Vice Presidents Mr Terence Lee and Mr Ling Kin Huat BBM, along with representatives of the Federation. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views and explore ways to strengthen collaboration in community service and social harmony.
During the discussion, Minister Chee commended the programmes offered by the Sheng Hong Arts Institute, including Nanyin, Chinese music and dance. These initiatives provide young people with opportunities to engage with traditional culture, while positioning temples as platforms for cultural transmission and community participation. He also expressed appreciation for the Federation’s support during the pandemic, and encouraged it to continue contributing to community cohesion and social good amid ongoing global uncertainties.
Minister Chee further noted that Chinese community organisations and temples can play a useful role in supporting the integration of new immigrants into Singapore society.
